Friday Favorites – 5 Favorite Games Young Children
Gaming as a Family
My children love games and so do I! And for good reason. Not only are board games fun, but they are interactive and teach children a number of great skills. Some of which include, working together as a team, sportsmanship, an introduction to math basics, fine motor skills, and problem solving. Today, I will be sharing my favorite 5 games for kids.
Spot It
Our family has loved spot it for years! There is a variety of versions to play and it is easy to pack on any trip. This particular version is great for helping younger children with learning to focus, color recognition and matching.
Happy Bunny
This game is something we came upon within the last couple months. I love that it teaches counting, color recognition, comparison (bigger or smaller), and one to one correspondence.
Candy Land
Candy Land is a great introduction to board game play for young kids. They learn rules, color recognition, and good sportsmanship
Cowpie Catapults
In this fun cow pie flinging game, children are using fine motor skills to fling the cow pies across the board. They also use problem solving as they have to think through which angle is best to knock over the cows. Also, what kid doesn’t think launching rubber cow poop is fun?!
UNO
Uno is a classic card game that allows kids learn color recognition, basic game play, number matching.
